10/40 Window: The "10/40 window" is a phrase often used by missiologists to refer areas of our planet that remain to be reached by the gospel of Christ. While there are many areas outside of this geographic region that are quite needy, it does highlight the critical spiritual need in many remote places of our world. There are over 6,000 unreached people groups, located primarily in Asia.
One of our goals this year: With our national partners, target one of these UPG's to plant a church
Our goal is to mobilize and train believers to reach the lost in countries where Christianity is a significant religious minority. Because Western missions was done so well for so many years, we now have many fine nationals in every country who are capable of carrying on the work of missions in their home countries. Our task is to give them the tools to succeed and provide encouragement in various ways. How can we close our heart before such a great need spiritually? Listen to the apostle John on this point:
"By this perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whosoever hath this world's good, and seeth the brother have need, and shutteth up his compassions for him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? My little children, let us not love in word neither in tongue, but in deed and truth. And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him." I John 3:16-19
Because we work in sensitive areas, we do not give the names of specific locations or workers, but we do appreciate your prayers and support for this work. I am convinced it is the last frontier of what God is doing on our planet today. Currently we are sponsoring 5 national church planters in a remote area of the 10/40 window. We usually support them for 3 years to help 'jump start' a church. After this we expect the work to be self supporting.
Areas we can Share About:
Asia: $6,500 has just been sent to South Asia to pay off some land and construct a large concrete building for a fishing village ministry. We appreciate your gifts and prayers as we move forward in this work.
Nepal:In the midst of several church plant projects we know of, one dear brother started an outreach to orphans. We came to be aware of the poor clothing of these orphaned kids. So we purchased 2 pairs of uniforms each for 140 orphans. As we become aware of other needs in this area, we want to help.
South Central Asia: Pastor Jones will serve for 6 weeks in July teaching and training church planters in a closed access country as well as exploring other opportunities in East Asia.
November/December: Pastor John will be in another closed country where he will be training future church planters and leaders. Pray for the Lord to use Him mightily. Pray for safety and success in his travels.
